Long Reef is located on the Northen Beaches of Sydney about 21km from Sydney’s CBD. It’s located at the northern end of Dee Why Beach.
Long Reef Beach is a perfect stretch of white sand. At the north end there is Long Reef Headland, a protected aquatic reserve, and a golf course.
Just below the headland is a very large rock shelf which is accessible at low tide. Once the tide is out you can walk onto the rock shelf which is scattered with all these difference sized rocks that make the area very unique and a popular place for photographers to shoot. Whenever I have been there I always feel like it’s another wonder of the world, as the rocks scattered throughout the rock shelf makes you question how they actually got there. And when you stand back and look at the area it’s really fascinating and quite an extraordinary sight.
on this articular morning the sky was quite clear and nothing was really happening in the sky. Then one of the other photographers I was with called out, hey guys, look behind you. That’s when we saw above the headland these amazing rays appear in the sky. I ad to move quickly and capture this image before they disappeared.
