This was the amazing Paulownia Tree Plantation in North Richmond in Sydney. North Richmond is a semi-rural suburb of Richmond, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. North Richmond is located 67 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district.
This tree plantation was absolutely spectacular, and loved by photographers, especially wedding photographers who would hire out the forest for wedding shoots. The trees were planted in 2002, and the Paulownia trees were visible from Bells Line of Road and accessed via Old Kurrajong Road.
I gained access to photograph these trees as I was part of a photography group who organised different shoots around Sydney. It was the most spectacular area and when you walked around the trees you felt a million miles away in a fantasy land, it was truly a unique spot.
Unfortunately a few years ago the trees were cut down which sent waves of sadness amongst the photography community. Apparently in 2005, the owner at the time advised council that the trees would be ready for harvesting in eight to 10 years and that the trees would then regrow from the original root and the process would start again. The property was sold in May 2017, so who knows what the plans are for the area. Hopefully no development will occur and the trees will regrow to their beautiful splendour for future photographers to enjoy.

PRINT TYPE DESCRIPTIONS
ILFORD Galerie Smooth Pearl – 310gsm
GALERIE Smooth Pearl Paper features the very latest HDR (High Dynamic Range) optically clear nanoporous coating for outstanding imaging performance. The high density heavyweight base has a natural photographic white tint to produce prints with excellent colour gamut and high sharpness.
The pearl surface eliminates glare and finger prints giving the true look and feel of a photographic print.
The photograph will be printed using UltraChrome K3™ ink which can produce archival prints with amazing colour fidelity and gloss level, while providing consistently stable colours. Incorporating high density pigments, Epson UltraChrome K3 produces prints with an extremely wide colour gamut allowing the reproduction of colours that were originally envisioned at the point of capture.
METTALIC Pearl – 250gsm
This paper has to be seen to be believed, it’s really gorgeous. It’s a high gloss media with a remarkable metallic pearl finish. With the right images it can really make them sing like no other paper – with a highly three dimensional look.
This paper offers exceptional image clarity and brilliant colour reproduction with a high-gloss metallic finish.
The photo is mounted to the back of a UV resistant acrylic glass sheet, creating an airtight bond and letting you view the image through a crystal-clear glossy surface. This mounting process preserves your images from scratching and fading and creates a near 3-D stunning visual effect. It also gives the image more depth and colour saturation due to the clarity of the acrylic sheet.
The image is backed with a white 2mm Dibond to add rigidity and use an aluminium sub frame to float it from the wall. Because of the different light penetration and refraction of acrylic glass compared to normal glass, the colours are more brilliant and the image sharper than compared to standard glass in a picture frame.
The image is printed on metallic paper for a pearl like finish. It comes with an easy hanging system and hanging bracket so you can put it up on your wall with ease.
The canvas prints are printed using the finest quality archival inks on cotton canvases.
The canvas prints are coated with an invisible polymer coating which creates a water resistant surface and further protects colours from fading. This finish ensures no glare or reflection and retains the texture of the cotton canvas.
The canvas is stretched around a timber frame and it is ready to hang.
